About
Dr. Margolis is dedicated to helping those who are eager to find truth, connection, and emotional balance. The heart of her work is in cultivating a safe and compassionate space where clients can examine and process their experiences. She actively helps clients explore what gives their lives meaning, empowering them to live with authenticity and a grounded sense of self. She guides clients in connecting to their feelings, uncovering their inner strength, and moving forward with purpose and fulfillment. She aims to foster the opportunity for clients to improve self-awareness, build self-esteem, strengthen self-trust, and truly heal. Her goal is for every client to feel seen, heard, and understood.
Dr. Margolis earned a Master’s degree in social work from Columbia University before completing her doctorate through the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium. She also completed a certification in teaching mindfulness as part of an Integrative Health fellowship at the West Los Angeles VA. Her clinical training - including hospitals, community mental health, the VA, and group practice - has provided her with a rich and diverse background in working with various populations and clinical presentations.
Dr. Margolis specializes in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for both individuals and couples. Utilizing attachment theory and the healing power of emotions, this approach helps clients better understand their relational and emotional patterns and get unstuck from what no longer serves them. Her therapeutic style is integrative and tailored to each unique client. In addition to using EFT, she draws from mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, existential therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
With a deep commitment to understanding cultural factors, Dr. Margolis takes into account the intersecting identities and social contexts that shape each client’s experience. She brings her passion for social justice into her clinical work and adopts a curious and open-minded stance to help clients explore the complexities of their inner and outer worlds.
Dr. Margolis is currently in private practice in Los Angeles and virtually throughout California. Her practice primarily focuses on women’s mental health, addressing issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, life transition, relationship issues, and grief. She also works with couples and individuals across the gender spectrum. Additionally, Dr. Margolis conducts individual professional mentorship for graduate students and early career psychologists.
